Little Buddy's Story

Our Little Buddy John is one of the most incredible spirits we have ever met.  He is unbelievably positive and compassionate.  John has never been able to play outside like other kids but has never complained or felt sorry for himself.  Instead he is truly happy for the other kids and finds other ways to express his creativity inside and then shares it with everyone else.  We have had the joy of being with John since he was in Kindergarten and have been thrilled to have him as a friend.

John has a gastrointestinal motility disorder.  This is caused by the nerves and muscles in his digestive system which do not function in a coordinated way to move food within the digestive system.  This is a smooth muscle disorder.  He was diagnosed with this when he was 18 months old.  John is 11 now and going to be a 6th grader next year!

We, his friends from school, are raising funds to get John to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio where there is a specialist for this disorder.   John loves Phoenix Children's Hospital and all the staff there but he needs to get to Ohio to the specialist and where they have the special equipment to diagnose and treat his very rare condition.
