I was just reading about what you wrote about Wolfie's trip to California. He also went to Solvang, Santa Monica, Ventura Beach, and three Missions. He LOVED watching the surfers off of Ventura Pier and riding on the skateboards with the kids.
I admit he got a little antsy at the end of the trip and just wanted to be back at home with you. Mrs. May will send you more details about Wolfie's "European Vacation" too. I'm going to send Marsha more pictures and Mrs. May can do that too.
Things have been a little boring at school since you've been gone...I never see any five wheelers flying by my office windows any more and the music boxes are getting dusty. It's great being able to write to you though. I hear you are doing well so that is great. Grandma Rosemary (my Mom) asks how you are everytime I talk to her on the phone. She never stops praying for you. I say, "Hi Mom...guess what.... I ..." she says, "How is my little John Padilla? I pray for him everyday." Sometimes I say, "Well, he didn't feel too good today, Mom." She says, "I am going to have to have a serious talk with St. Anthony! What is wrong with all of those Saints up there! They better help me pray for him so he'll get well right away or I'll get after them!" (And believe me, she does!). (Whenever you hear thunder, know that Grandma Rosemary is getting after them)!!! She's pretty funny. But when I say, "He's doing really well." She says, "That's what I wanted to hear." Don't underestimate Grandma Rosemary!

I'm so glad you got out the hospital in time to spend one day at school with your many friends. 5 weeks and 6 days is a long time to be in the hospital. The nurses were wonderful and the people in the teen room helped so much to make your time there more fun. I think it was hard to leave your many friends there. Buddy, wasn't it fun to surprise everyone at school today? It was really hard for me to not tell anyone that you were out of the hospital and coming for a visit the last day of school, I wanted to SHOUT I was so happy. All those happy 5th graders doing the group hug on you and singing the Barney song! Now I will always think of you whenever I hear the Barney song! Just an update to all of Buddy's friends, he is still in the hospital, but does not have a laptop available at the moment. So if you sent him a message here he will get it but please be patient on hearing back from him. The laptop he was using is now being used by his sister Anita who is an honors student and started college! Buddy is so happy and excited for her. He will be online again soon and enjoys hearing from everyone. Your messages mean a lot to him. Cathy

I found a angel just like my child. Little Jeremiah is 6 years old, in the first grade here in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Iam delighted to have found a pen pal for him just as well as myself. Mom, I commend you on the tremendous job you and Buddy have accomplished. My son was recently diagnosed with a gastrointestinal disorder, after suffering through his infant hood. His doctor has also recommended him to be seen by Dr. Di Lorenzo as well. We are in the process of raising funds to get up there for the desperatly needed testing, before his general surgeon can proceed with the pull-through surgery. Please contact me mom for support in this matter and also give Buddy a high-five for me and Jeremiah. (423)622-6536

Hi Buddy,
I just turned off the lights in the front of the house and blew out the candles in the pumpkins. It was a quiet Halloween. We mostly got a few really young children. One was a baby dressed as a penguin and was crying. He was really really cute.
How was your Halloween? I know you are getting a little old for that now, but it is still fun. Did the people there dress up? I wore two huge tarantulas on my shirt today, and no one noticed them. What is that all about? Miss you Buddy!

John is in Ohio! He left this morning and got there safe and sound this afternoon. His first flight in an airplane unless you count the simulator at Luke Air Force Base when he was Pilot of the Day! He will be admitted to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus Monday morning for a week of testing. You can go on their website and send him an ecard. We all wish you only the best Buddy!! Thanks to everyone who has helped make this trip possible.

Bud, Mike got some great pictures of the plane that crashed on our school playground I want to share with you. It was truly a miracle no one was hurt and the plane didn't even look like it would need too much work to be back and running. I was remembering when you were Pilot for the day at Luke how small I thought those cockpits were, but this plane was even smaller. I think if I ever fly again I only want to be in those humongous jets! Will see you in the morning. Cathy
